Bangs, bargains and a brush with greatness

Well I've had quite an eventful couple of days.
Firstly I tried out a rifle that the Club had aquired a while ago, and I got on really well with it.
It turns out that no one else at the club really likes it, so I'll be buying it next month, as I should get some cash for my Birthday, and I have an empty .22 slot on my licence. It's an Armscor M1600r,  it looks like this.

Work was busy, with some team members off on holiday, and otherwise absent......More on this in the future.

On Saturdays, I take my Gran up to a local Carboot sale, I have had a couple of pretty cool bits from there in the past. This last week I picked up a Wacom Graphics tablet for £5. Okay, it's an old ish one, but it looks like it had never been used, had 5 new nibs in the box, and after downloading the Windows 7 drivers, worked perfectly.

Sunday, I was at the Rifle Club for Archery practice, when a young lady, who shoots for Wales, and is could well be part of Team GB in the 2012 Olympics came along. She has recently joined the club, as she has moved to the area.
She had never tried Archery before, so I got to put my Archery Leaders training to good use.

Well, that's me for now.
Peace out

Time flies like an arrow, Fruit Flies like a banana

Ok, so it has been 4 years since my last entry, alot has happened in that time.
I have changed Jobs, cars, mobile phones, oh and my underwear, I have quit smoking and been trained as an Archery Leader.

Well first off, I am no longer working as a ISP technical support agent, that job just kept getting worse and worse, after being outsourced, we had one payrise, then nothing, lots of promises, and unobtainable bonus schemes.

As NTL and Telewest merged, it seemed that if there were two choices, and one was the most sensible way of doing something, and the other was the Telewest way, manglement always chose the Telewest way.
Finally as if to add insult to injury, they took Broadband Support away from us and gave us ADSL to support.

Now, with Broadband, the company owned the network, we could track faults down really easily, and we could send our own engineers out to sort the Users problems out. ADSL however, you have to rely on BT, and I have found that whenever you get involved with BT, it all goes to pot.

Now I am working for a company that supplies outsourced technical support to Industry.
When I first started, I saw quite a few familiar faces from NTL, and it seems that every time there is an intake of new staff, there are more "Escapees" from NTL.

Anyway, more will follow, and hopefully with increasing regularity.
Peace Out.

Long Time, No Posts

Sheesh,
where does the time go?
Well, I have been busy since my last post.
First there was the Christmas show for my friends youth theatre.
I was happily building set on the Monday, when my friend finds out that the sound & lighting engineers who had promised to do the show, can't make it.

So, I end up doing the sound & one of the ex students, (Yo Jamie) did the Lights.
Needless to say we were both bricking it, as neither of us had done sound or lighting before.
The show was a great success, all the kids had a great time.

Then we had Christmas itself, I didn't get a Wii, but I did get Gutar Hero II for the PS2.

Just after christmas we went out for my mates birthday, I noticed what seemed to be a bruise on my right leg, it had appeared from nowhere & hurt when touched, but I just ignored it & went out & had a good time.
By the time I got to bed (4am on the 30th) my right leg had swolen up! It was just under twice the width of my left leg.

Needless to say New year was a bit of a bust, I just sat at home with my curry & watched films.

I got a call from Auntie Pam at about 10:30, asking if I was all right, I told her what was up & she insisted that I went over, if only till just after midnight.

I did & was glad I did as she had bought me some flavoured cigars in Florida & I smoked teh chocolate one then.

I spent the next couple of days resting my Leg, which was almost back to normal by the time I had to return to work last week.

I am now back in work & praying for a lottery Win, Heh.

Well, Peace Out for now.

Stop the bus, I want a Wii Wii

I have been checking out the Nintendo Wii, and I'm impressed.
not only is it backwards compatible with the Game Cube, but you get a virtual machine with the whole of nintendo's back catalogue, from the NES to the N64.
So, guess what I'll be putting all the money that I get for christmas towards.

I have a really fast connection with my isp (10 meg), and whilst I get this speed fully upstairs on my main pc & my burner, I barely get a 4 meg connection downstairs on my Laptop.
I have managed to isolate the problem to the Dumb Hub that splits the connection between the Wireless acces point & the Network hard drive as it is 5/10 Mbps not the full 10/100Mbps that the rest of my equipment is.

One of my mates has managed to find a 54g wireless router for under £15 including shipping, so he ordered that for me.
Hopefully he should have that down Da GC for me tonight & that should bring my browsing & file storage back up to speed.

Here's hoping anyway.

Peace Out.

Hectic......

Long time no update,
well, My Birthday went well, and I made out like a bandit with presents, Lego Star Wars II, a remote controlled K9, Weird Al's new album, and a load of other cool stuff.

Then I was hit with a cold which felt more like the flu, the air conditioning in work was not working properly, and my corner of the building was so hot I was almost passing out.
So I took a couple of days off sick & tried to get better.

All too soon I was back in work.

I still haven't managed to win the lottery, but a friend has offered me a job driving a Taxi for him, I am seriously considering this, as I am dreading the end of this project & having to go back to regular tech calls.

I opened my safe for the first time in months last night to check on my pistols, the 2 air pistols were fine, but my black powder pistol had siezed and needs some tlc, so I'll spend a couple of hours tomorrow giving it a damn good clean.

Looking forward to tomorrow night down at the golf club, we are having a big foreworks display.
One of the members is a licenced Pyrotechnican, so we should have some BIG BANGS.

Well I'd better get on with some work I suppose.
Peace Out.
